A major confusion in Alabama History is the role of Little Warrior in starting the Creek War (Ft. Mims 1813 to Horseshoe Bend 1814). Going all the way back to Pickett, students of Alabama's story have conflated two of Little Warrior's crimes into a single incident: the kidnapping of Martha Crawley on the Duck River in Tennessee and her journey to Black Warrior's town in present-day West Alabama.
