This August 17, 1767 clipping from the CALEDONIAN MERCURY (Edinburgh, Scotland) describes West Florida Lieutenant-Governor Montfort Browne's plans to start a town on D.I. named Hillsborough. I'm sure that was news to MAJOR ROBERT FARMAR(namesake of Farmar Street) who claimed to have a clear title to all the property on Dauphin Island.
