8b76de75-62f8-4a06-b245-746d8a6aabf7 (nps.gov) (from the link)  After the death of Mary Alice Whitfield in 1889, her son Jesse G. Whitfield became the owner of the Foscue House. Jesse G. Whitfield was known as the family historian and it was he who wrote family records on the walls. After his death in 1949, his son Fortescue B. Whitfield became the owner. James Whitfield Bird, the present owner, purchased the house from the widow of Fortescue Whitfield in 1973. James Whitfield Bird is the great grandson of Dr. Bryan Watkins and Mary Alice (Foscue) Whit field. He is the great, great grandson of both General Nathan Bryan Whitfield and Augustus Foscue. This Federal style country home built in l840.and continuously occupied by the same family is an outstanding example of this type architecture in the South. Except for the porches and the addition of electricity, the house remains virtually unchanged since 1849.
THE TIN MAN Reclaim Alabama

Reclaim Alabama

When a man's an empty kettle he should be on his mettle,
And yet I'm torn apart.
Just because I'm presumin' that I could be kind-a-human,
If I only had a heart
I'd be tender - I'd be gentle and awful sentimental
Regarding love and art.
I'd be friends with the sparrows ... and the boys who shoots the arrows
If I only had a heart.
Picture me - a balcony. Above a voice sings low.
Dorothy
Wherefore art thou, Romeo?
Tin Man
I hear a beat....How sweet.
Just to register emotion, jealousy - devotion,
And really feel the part.
I could stay young and chipper and I'd lock it with a zipper, If I only had a heart.

Dorothy
That was wonderful! You know, we were just wondering why you couldn't come with us to
the Emerald City to ask the Wizard of Oz for a heart.

Tin Man
Well, suppose the Wizard wouldn't give me one when we got there?

Dorothy
Oh, but he will! He must! We've come such a long way already.
